FAQ
- Do I need a doctors referral to attend?
No, you do not need a doctors referral to attend for physiotherapy. If, however, we feel it is relevant to make contact with your GP or to refer you to a consultant for further opinion, we will suggest this to you and can make the referral directly, with your permission.
- How do I make an appointment?
To make an appointment simply call us on 056 7788990 or email us at info@marblecityphysiotherapy.ie. We will endeavour to provide you with an appointment within a 24hour period. If you are unable to attend us in the clinic, we may be able call to see you in your own home.
- What does a Treatment session look like?
Following your assessment, we develop a treatment plan specific and individual to you. Treatment sessions are usually 30 minutes long and are predominantly manual therapy and exercise-based. Our Chartered Physiotherapists use manual therapy and various other adjunct modalities to support our active rehabilitation approach. Your treatment is supplemented with a home exercise routine, which helps to support and speed up your rate of improvement.
- What should I wear for my treatment session?
You do not need to wear anything specific to your physiotherapy appointment. However, loose comfortable clothing can be easier to move about in. In order to assess your complaint fully, we may require you to undress the affected area. We have a supply of shorts or you may bring your own.
- What will happen on my first visit?
On your first visit we will discuss your complaint and observe your movement/gait/functional control and biomechanics as appropriate. We will aim to provide you with a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Your first treatment will also include appropriate hands on and /or exercise treatment.
- How long will my appointment last?
Our standard consultations take approximately 30 minutes. Some assessments eg functional assessment screen require a longer 60 minute session but you will be advised of this when you book your appointment.
- How many sessions do patient's typically need?....
This of course depends on the issue you have, how long it has been going on and whether or not you are a post-operative patient. To give an example, on average an acute episode of back or neck pain patient attends for between 4 and 6 Physiotherapy sessions.
- How do I pay?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as cash or cheque.
- Can I get reimbursed for my physiotherapy treatments?
As Chartered Physiotherapists, your treatments are eligible for reimbursement from the main insurance companies. As policies vary, you are advised to contact your company to determine how much of your treatment fee is eligible for reimbursement. We will provide the necessary receipts at the end of your treatment episode, or earlier if necessary. You may also claim back tax using a MED-1 form, available online at revenue.ie
